Your rights need backing.
Create a lasting impact with your membership.

For CLAW to operate independently, it needs predictable support. A strategic climate lawsuit often drags on for years. During this time, supporting memberships fund the legal and scientific preparation, public outreach, and support for those affected.

Contributions to CLAW are tax-deductible in Austria. For more information, see the FAQs.
All memberships can be canceled at any time.

Dr. Maria Moser MTh, Director of Diakonie Austria

“I support CLAW. Climate change is already threatening the lives, health, and economic livelihoods of many people. CLAW is working to enforce climate action through the legal system, I believe this is incredibly important. Because climate rights are human rights.”

Dr. Oliver Scheiber, Lawyer

Oliver Scheiber

“Climate protection requires not only goals, but also binding commitments. That is exactly why CLAW needs support. They lay the groundwork to make strategic climate lawsuits possible. I support CLAW because rights only protect us if we can actually enforce them."

Climate lawsuits
require staying power.

Supporting memberships give CLAW the predictability, independence, and perseverance needed to prepare, explain, and see through strategic climate lawsuits. Regular contributions help the most because they support the infrastructure behind individual cases.

  1. Climate lawsuits will be prepared and pursued.
  2. Those affected will receive legal and communications support.
  3. Protection for many will not fail due to a lack of funds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I donate once?

Yes, if you prefer a one-time donation, you can click here to do so.

Can I change my membership later?

Yes, you can adjust or cancel your supporting membership any time. Just send an e-mail to office@climatelaw.at.

Monthly or annual - what helps more?

Both options help. Monthly payments give us the most predictability because they allow us to plan long term. Annual payments involve a little less administrative work. Choose whichever option is easiest for you.

Why supporting memberships and not one-time donations?

One-time donations help at a specific moment. Strategic climate lawsuits, however, often drag on for years. With a supporting membership, you help fund the ongoing work behind the scenes: legal preparation, scientific expert opinions, support for those affected, and the staying power required for a lawsuit. This gives us the security to see a case through, even when it gets difficult.

Is my contribution tax-deductible?

Yes. CLAW is recognized as a tax-exempt organization, so your donations are tax-deductible in Austria as special expenses. In order for us to report your donation to the tax office, we need your full first and last name and your date of birth. We’ll take care of the rest; the amount will be automatically included in your tax assessment.

What is my contribution used for?

Your contribution funds the work behind strategic climate lawsuits: case review, legal and scientific preparation, support for those affected, communication, and the organizational stability needed to sustain a lawsuit over the course of several years.

How can I pay?

You can pay by credit card, Google Pay, Apple Pay, PayPal, or SEPA direct debit. Payments are processed through a secure payment service provider (STRIPE).

Will I get a confirmation?

Once you've completed the process, you'll receive a confirmation email. You don't need a separate donation receipt for tax purposes: We'll report your annual membership fee directly to the tax office, provided you've given us your name and date of birth.

Is my data secure?

Yes. We process your data in accordance with applicable data protection regulations and do not share it with third parties. Payment data is processed exclusively through our payment service provider and is not stored by CLAW.

Can my company also provide support?

Yes. We offer specific ways for companies to support us, ranging from supporting memberships to strategic partnerships. Because independence and transparency are important to us, we prefer to discuss this directly with you. Please email us at office@climatelaw.at.

Can I support a specific case?

Our main approach is through supporting membership, as it funds the work behind all our legal proceedings. For this reason, we do not offer separate fundraising campaigns for individual cases. If a specific case is particularly close to your heart—such as Müllner v. Austria—you can still support it directly. Please transfer your contribution to IBAN AT05 2011 1845 7393 7100, specifying the case name in the payment description
Reference: e.g., “Müllner v. Austria.” We will then allocate the amount to that case. For automatic tax deduction of your donation, we need your full name and date of birth (simply email them to office@climatelaw.at)
